Introducing a new season of work from the National Theatre of Scotland.
Long Gone Lonesome, Duncan McLean’s musical tribute to Thomas Fraser’s life, featuring the Lone Star Swing Band and directed by Vicky Featherstone, returns to Orkney as part of the Orkney Folk Festival (21st to 23rd May 2010).
The fourth and final Allotment takes place in Govan, at Govan Cross Shopping Mall on the weekend of 29th & 30th May 2010.
In June, Random Accomplice and the National Theatre of Scotland present Little Johnny’s Big Gay Wedding, the final part of Johnny McKnight's Little Johnny trilogy. Has Little Johnny found his dream man? He's getting married and you're all invited. Find out, as his guests, at at Langside Hall, Glasgow from 1st to 12th June 2010.
EXCHANGE 2010 – the National Theatre of Scotland’s annual celebration of Scottish youth theatre - returns in July 2010. Now in its fifth year, Exchange 2010 takes place at the Byre Theatre, St Andrews for the first time.
In August 2010, the National Theatre of Scotland is back at the Edinburgh Festivals this year with two world premieres. Full details of our Edinburgh International Festival presentation will be announced at the launch on March 17th.
For our Fringe show, we team up with Frantic Assembly to present Beautiful Burnout, a new play exploring the brutal world of young Scottish boxers, presented in Frantic Assembly’s popular physical style. Beautiful Burnout opens at a brand new venue, the Pleasance Forth, as part of the Pleasance programme at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe (4 to 29 August 2010), before touring to Tramway, Glasgow (2 to 11 September 2010) and York Hall, London, in association with the Barbican (16 September to 2 October 2010). Further tour dates to be announced.
In September, Black Watch returns to Scotland before embarking on an international tour. The production will play at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre, Glasgow (15 September to 9 October 2010) and at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (13 to 23 October 2010). Further UK and international dates to be announced.
To round off the season, we celebrate the Scots language Border Ballads and Scottish folk tales with a tour of smaller venues throughout Scotland. The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart reunites leading Scottish writer David Greig and director Wils Wilson following the success of their award-winning children’s show, Gobbo. Dates for the November 2010 tour including Jedburgh, Ullapool, Coatbridge and Berwick Upon Tweed.
